Kilmartin, Argyll, Scotland[ Home | Messages | Search | Post | Reply | Next | Previous | Up ] Kilmartin McCallum'sFrom: Madelaine Simpson CommentsIn May 2000 I left a message on behalf of my neighbours re. McCallum's of Kilmartin. Sadly I then had problems and have been without access to a computer - now back online with new email address, trying on their behalf again. My neighbour Donald McCallum has a photocopy of the birth entry for his grandfather. Donald MacCallum (sic) born to Hugh MacCallum dyke builder & his wife Christina nee Scott 5/12/1864 at Carnussey Beg Cottages. Using my 1881 census cd's I found the family in Kilmartin Village. Hugh McCallum Head 56yrs Dyke Builder, wife Christina 48yrs, Isabella McCallum daugh.25 dressmaker. Donald son 16yrs tailor (apprentice) John son 12yrs, Hugh son 9yrs, Catherine daugh. 6yrs. Dougald son 4yrs. Using the IGI I found 5 other (possible?)children born to a Hugh McCallum & Christina Scott; as follows, ? twins Mary & Cirstian born 1857. William 1858, Archibald 1860 and Duncan 1862. Also on the IGI I found a marriage I presume? of the parents; Hugh MacCallum Marriage 8th Feb.1853 spouse Christian SCOTT and possibly her christening. Cirstian SCOTT 16th Nov. 1832 at Kilmartin Parents William Scott & Isobell McIntyre. My retired neighbour whose family this is, only had family hearsay that there had been 7 brothers who all went their separate ways. I would appreciate any input from anyone who thinks they are connected to this branch of Kilmartin McCallums.
