Nice site - and thanks for your message. As far back as I can prove my Gillies family originated in Kilmichael Glassary with a Donald Gillies who got married in 1798 and moved to Furnace. In time they moved on to Lochgilphead. My interest in Kilmartin is that Donalds wife Janet Crawford was buried in the churchyard there in 1855. I searched the graves and although I found many Gillies' and some Crawfords, none that I recognised as 'mine'. The hunt goes on! Take care.
