Isabella McPhail and two younger brothers from Euroch Farm in Kilmartin, Argyllshire, Scotland immigrated to Cape Fear, North Carolina in 1772 aboard a shipload of Geddie and Maxwell families. Aboard ship Isabella married James Daniel Geddie. Her brothers were Daniel and Dougald. They settled in the Cape Fear area near what is now Fayetteville, NC. In 1852, descendants of the Geddies and McPhails migrated to VanZandt County, Texas. Many of their graves are there, mostly around Colfax, Texas just east of Dallas.
