My family tree stems from the island of Jura, Argyll, which is just off the coast from Kilmartin. A Neil McPhail came to the island in the 1700's and his descendants lived there for at least 4 generations and made their living as shepherds. I know they had McPhail relatives on the mainland (possibly Kilmartin) and kept in touch with them. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I live in the US, but grew up in Kilmichael (the Horse Shoe Inn)The Roddick family still live in the village.
