Archibald "Mor" Munro (Mor or Archie) Born to: John Malcolm Munro & ? Siblings: Neil "Ban" (etc) He came to Canada with this brother. (? It is said that their other siblings and their parents remained in Scotland.) Born: approx. 1796 (or 1798?) Birthplace: Scotland, (Kilmichael-Glassary, Argyllshire) Relocated to: In 1818-Aldborough Twp, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada He landed in Port Glasgow, Ontario in 1818. Port Glasgow is along Lake Erie, east of Rondeau Park and west of Part Stanley. In 1827 he moved to Kilmartin, Mosa Twp, Ontario, Canada Description: most likely tall, average to large frame, with dark hair, blue eyes. Education: There is information that Archie was somewhat educated in Scotland. He is remembered as a leader amongst his clan and people. Employed: Owned & operated a farm, S 1/2, Lot 1, Con 7, Kilmartin, Mosa Twsp. Health: Must have been excellent, according to the lifestyle he had to survive in early days of Upper Canada. Died: approx. 1834 or 1835, drowned in Thames River near Wardsville, Ontario, returning home with some cattle. He slipped on a rock and then hit his head. Buried: Kilmartin Cemetery, or in Wardsville? Ontario, Canada Last know address: Farm - S 1/2, Lot 1, Con 7 Kilmartin, Mosa Twsp. Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada Today (1998) this address would read: Route #2, Glencoe, Ontario, N0L 1M0 and is as of 1999 owned and operated by Dugall McCullam 519-287-2122 Married to: Janet Smith Married on: approx 1923, most likely in Aldborough, Ontario, Canada Born to: Smith Siblings: ? Born: 1801 Birthplace: Scotland or Aldorough, Ontario, Canada Relocated to: Aldborough Twp., Ontario to Kilmartin, Mosa Twp, Ontario, Canada Description: ? Education: ? Employed: Mother of six, farmer after Archie's untimely death. Health: Must have been excellent, according to the lifestyle. Died: December 25, 1859 (Christmas) at 49 years of age Buried: Kilmartin Cemetery , Kilmartin (just outside of Glencoe today), Ontario , Row 16, #16 Parents of: Janet, *Malcolm, John, Barbara, Elizabeth, Mary Cemetery records show one less female under 16yrs of age in 1841 than in 1838. (This could be Mary, she could have died in that period of time.)
