2. John A² James (Joel¹) was born in Marshal Co., Indiana 1845. John died April 22, 1902 in Asherville, Missouri, at 56 years of age.

He married Nancy Ann Hillman in Stoddard Co., Missouri, June 17, 1882. Nancy was born in Jefferson Co., Illinois January 26, 1862. Nancy was the daughter of Johnson B Hillman and Susan Sinks. Nancy died January 26, 1930 in Gideon, New Madrid Co., Missouri, at 68 years of age.

John A James and Nancy Ann Hillman had the following children:

4 ii. Maude James.

5 iii. Ida May James.

6 iv. Pearle May James was born Arkansas December 05, 1890. Pearle died April 1973 in Tacoma, Washington, at 82 years of age. She married Alta Beeler Morris in Gideon, New Madrid Co., Missouri, December 24, 1911. Alta was born in Warrick Co., Indiana August 20, 1881. Alta was the son of John Thomas Morris and Sarah Chambers. Alta died June 29, 1946 in Tacoma, Washington, at 64 years of age. (See Alta Beeler Morris for the continuation of this line.)
