9. William³ Fettes (William², William¹) was born Muir of Lownie, Dunnichen, ANS., SCT. June 26, 1835. William died January 16, 1900 Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN., at 64 years of age.

He married Mary McPhail in Beverly Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada, January 24, 1865. Mary was born in Euroch, Kilmartin, Arl., Sct. March 08, 1841. Mary was the daughter of Dugald McPhail and Christina McCallum. Mary died November 01, 1920 Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN., at 79 years of age. Mary immigrated, June 1847. Destination: Beverly Twp, Ontario, Canada. The following individuals are also linked to this event: Christina McCallum (mother); Dugald McPhail (father); Alexander McPhail (relative). The Fettes's were a very strict, stern (dour!) lot, and Mary and her children made their fun whenever "old fettes" was away. They would move the furniture, roll up the rug, and have a dance, while someone kept watch from a window to warn them when he was coming home. Shortly after they were married, Mary complained to her husband about the long distance she had to go fetch water from the spring, for the fat cattle. His response was not to dig a well closer to the house, but to make a yoke, so that she could carry four pails at once.

William Fettes and Mary McPhail had the following children:

12 i. Agnes⁴ Fettes was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. January 10, 1867. Agnes died September 08, 1923 Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN., at 56 years of age. She married Alexander Moir Milne in Holstein, Grey Co., Ontario, Canada, April 06, 1892. Alexander was born in Stuartfield, Old Deer, ABD., Scotland November 12, 1856. Alexander died August 15, 1931 in Dromore, Grey Co. Ontario, Canada, at 74 years of age. (See Alexander Moir Milne for the continuation of this line.)

13 ii. William Fettes was born in Yeoville, Egremont Twp., Ontario, Canada December 12, 1869. William died 1929 in Cheyenne Wells, Co. USA, at 59 years of age. He married Janet "Jenny" MacKenzie in Holstein, Grey Co., Ontario, Canada, March 16, 1898. Janet was born in Cedarville, Proton Twp., Ontario, Canada March 11, 1877. Janet died March 31, 1957 in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.

14 iii. Christina Fettes was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. 1870. Christina died April 30, 1945 in Durham, Grey Co. Ontario, Canada, at 74 years of age.

15 iv. Herriet Fettes was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. September 16, 1873. Herriet died September 12, 1968 in Winnipeg, Man., Canada, at 94 years of age. She married David Waddell Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN., March 01, 1898. David was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. June 17, 1870. David died March 27, 1926 in Carman, Man., Canada, at 55 years of age. 16 v. Anne Fettes was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. 1874. Anne died September 22, 1951 at 77 years of age.

17 vi. Lillie Fettes was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. September 19, 1878. Lillie died November 22, 1964 in Hamilton, Ont., Canada, at 86 years of age. She married Alexander Rutherford Henderson Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN., January 28, 1903. Alexander was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. November 02, 1875. 18 vii. James Murray Fettes was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. September 19, 1878. James died June 19, 1944 in LeMars, IA., USA, at 65 years of age. He married Margaret Struble.

20 ix. Sarah Fettes was born Egremont Twp., ONT., CAN. 1883. Sarah died 1959 at 76 years of age. She married Neil McEachnie. (See Neil McEachnie for the continuation of this line.)
