1. John¹ THOMPSON was born in Bedlington, Northumberland 1716.⁽⁶²⁾ John died December 22, 1787 at 71 years of age. His body was interred December 24, 1787 in Farlam, Cumbria.

He married Ann HOODLESS in Brampton, near Carlisle, June 1, 1749.⁽⁶³⁾ Ann was born in Lincoln, England about September 1726.⁽⁶⁴⁾ Ann was the daughter of Edward HOODLESS and Mary . Ann died September 1794 at 68 years of age. Her body was interred September 6, 1794 in Farlam.

John's occupation: Farmer.

John THOMPSON and Ann HOODLESS had the following children:

2 i. George² THOMPSON was born May 3, 1750. George died about 1778. His body was interred in St Paul's Church Yard, London.⁽⁶⁵⁾ George's occupation: Clerk in a merchant's off.

3 ii. Matthew THOMPSON was born March 5, 1752. Matthew died March 8, 1752 at less than one year of age. His body was interred March 9, 1752.

4 iii. Mark THOMPSON was born March 5, 1752. Mark died March 8, 1752 at less than one year of age. His body was interred March 9, 1752.

+ 5 iv. John THOMPSON was born March 25, 1753.

6 v. Charles THOMPSON was born June 24, 1755. Charles died January 9, 1827 in Richmond, Yorkshire, at 71 years of age. Charles's occupation: Officer of Inland Revenue.

7 vi. Joseph THOMPSON was born August 25, 1757. Joseph died January 3, 1817 in Farlam Hall, near Brampton, at 59 years of age. Joseph's occupation: Clerk, merchant's office.

8 vii. Mary THOMPSON was born February 1760.

9 viii. Ann THOMPSON was born October 27, 1762. Ann died September 20, 1834 in Kirkhouse, near Brampton, Cumberland, at 71 years of age.

10 ix. Thomas THOMPSON was born March 18, 1765. Thomas died February 23, 1838 in Farlam Hall, near Brampton, Cumberland, at 72 years of age. Thomas's occupation: Farmer.
