He married twice. He married Ethel A Patterson in W. Flamborough, Ont., Canada, May 25, 1927. Ethel was born in Beverly Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada April 12, 1905. Ethel died December 28, 1979 in Hamilton, Ont., Canada, at 74 years of age. He married Olive Marcy in Kirkwall, Beverly Twp., Ontario, Canada, February 21, 1981. Olive was born in Beverly Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada August 06, 1912.

John A McPhail and Ethel A Patterson had the following children:

71 ii. Hazel Agnes McPhail was born in Beverly Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada January 11, 1932. She married twice. She married Ralph L. Edworthy in Kirkwall, Beverly Twp., Ontario, Canada, September 05, 1953. Ralph was born in Hamilton, Ont., Canada September 30, 1927.
