I had a geneologist in Utah trace my mothers ancestry to a couple of McPhails who came over with the 74th Regiment in 1778 or thereabout. The regiment was to defend Halifax from the Americans during the war. After the war the regiment was dispanded. I assume the McPhails stayed behind and received land grants in lieu of payment. Several McPhails were found to have settled in the St. Stevens area of New Brunswick. Can anyone add to this?
