My family connect to the McPhails as far back as 1700's. Thomas Maxwell, son of William II(of Scotland) married Mary McPhail,of scotland circa 1782 in cumberland county north carolina. Their oldest son.... JOHN MAXWELL....married Mary margaret Geddie, daughter of James Geddie and Catherine McPhail. Their son,DANIEL MAXWELL, married (April 20th 1808) Catherine Geddie, daughter of James Daniel Geddie and Isabella McPhail. Their son, DANIEL MCPHAIL MAXWELL(he called himself daniel phillip) (Also was a twin)married his cousin Catherine Maxwell. I have a Geddie-McPhail biography and a Maxwell biography, if anyone has any need of information, I may be able to help. Our Maxwell family has a future web site under construction @ family shoebox.com, called Groverskids. Soon to have old family photos as well as new.

Im looking for my great-grandmother's first husband. She was originally Leah Latimer and is what is called a half-breed, cant remember the tribe name as it is extinct. She married a MacPhail who according to her died in a war. She had two daughters by him, Diane MacPhail and Janet MacPhail. Im trying to make a family tree so my children will have some idea where they come from. Any Info is appreciated. This is what i do know of my G grandmother. She was born on March 14,1906 possibly in Washinton state, or Montana to an Indian mother and a British father whose last name was Latimer. She died in San Francisco in 1997. thanks, Dawn
