I am trying to find out when Martha Josephine McPhail was born....According to some pension papers it was march 22 1854, but I keep finding info with a birth date of 1846....can anyone help?

my great grandfather was Isaac Gideon Coles he was married to Jousha Hellen McPhail on( 1-10-1877). They had 6 boys&3 girls. i've just started to research my family ancestry. i know that she is buried in auburn,ky logan county and it,s not far from russellville, ky. debbie
